JR Cars wins Gerona Invt’l basketball tournament

JR Cars Tarlac shot their way to victory by winning the Gerona Inter-Commercial Basketball Tournament championship crown ahead of strong oppositions from a field of locals and participating teams from nearby towns.

Out of 30 games JR Cars emerged a tough team to crack even against local team Enriquez-Gerona who had the hometown crowd and home court advantage at its side.

Enriquez-Gerona came out First runner-up followed in by Honda Motors and ACL team, 2nd and 3rd runner-up, respectively.

Games were held at the Don Matias Athletic Field from November 4 to 20.

The basketball tournament, which drew in seven teams, was one of the highlights of the week-long fiesta celebration of the town of Gerona. The basketball tournament had been one of Gerona’s sports activities that dates back from generations of Geronians who loved the sport.

Other teams who participated in the invitational tournament were Startruck, Oblation Trading, and TARELCO.

A total cash prize of P 30,000 was awarded to the champion and runner-up teams.
