101 COUPLES TIE THE KNOT IN "KASALANG BAYAN"
One hundred one couples tied the knot and pronounced “I do” on February 26 during the Kasalang Bayan jointly sponsored by the offices of the municipal mayor and municipal registrar at the Don Matias Athletic Field.
The wedding ceremony was a post-valentine event aimed at legally binding unmarried couples of Gerona.
The Kasalang Bayan was for free as long as couples had certificates of birth, parent’s consent or advice of contracting parties, death certificate for widowed-spouse applicant, tree-planting certificate, and marriage counseling certificate.
The municipal civil registrar Joselito T. Enriquez led the event from the order of the ceremony down to the decors, wedding singer, photographers, and event documentation.
“Isang biyaya,” was how Cristina Ibarra, 58, of Barangay Mabini described the experience.
Ibarra made a vow with Moises Ibarra, 65, after 20 years of living-in together.
Jeymar, one of Ibarra’s six children, who also made a vow to his partner Marilou on the same occasion, was happy to receive wedding gifts as he headed towards a jump-packed jeepney.
Couples received gifts and foods as wedding presents from Mayor Go.
