Availing of Outpatient Consultation at Gerona Health Centers
                                                                                        
ABOUT THE SERVICE

The purpose of this service is to diagnose and treat illnesses and give appropriate medical
services. 

Service is available at the following Health Centers to any person/individual who needs medical assistance:

  1. Rural Health Unit 1 and Gerona Birthing Station (GBS), Pob #1, Don Matias
    Compound, Gerona, Tarlac
  2. Rural Health Unit ll, Pinasling,  Gerona, Tarlac
  3. Rural Health Unit lll, Sulipa, Gerona, Tarlac

How to avail of the service

Availing of Reproductive Tract Health Exams   

ABOUT THE SERVICE

The GERONA Health Center runs an aggressive reproductive tract health program,
especially for workers in the entertainment industry.

The objective of the program is to unrelentlessly fight and control the spread of Sexually
Transmitted Infections by early identification and prompt treatment of  those afflicted.
Those who pass the examinations are given a Health Card.

Fees

Initial Issuance of Pink Card P200. 00, includes the following examinations.

1. Bacteriology- repeated weekly after the initial  examination,  P50.00 
2. Urinalysis- repeated every six (6) months, P30.00
3. PAP Smear- repeated every six (6) months, P120.00

Availing of immunization services                        

ABOUT THE SERVICE

The aim of this service is to immunize children aged 0 to 11 months old from the seven (7) immunizable diseases before reaching (1) year old.
The RHU i and RHU ii AND RHU iii also immunize pregnant mothers to prevent the occurence of
Tetanus Neonatorum in infants.

ABOUT THE SERVICE

The RHU i, RHU ll and RHU lll provide comprehensive maternal care program for pregnant
and lactating mothers.

How to avail of the service

Availing of Circumcision                                         

ABOUT THE SERVICE

The  RHU i, RHU II and  RHU III yearly circumsize boys during the summer months of April
and
May. The service, together with the initial dose of analgesics and antibiotics, are done free
of charge.

PROGRAM COVERAGE

This program is open to all boys, aged 9 and up, who are willing to be circumcised. This service is called SUMMER CUT and is done per barangay with no limit to the number of boys to be circumcised.

HOW TO AVAIL OF THE SERVICE

Availing of Dental Examination and/or Tooth extraction

ABOUT THE SERVICE

This service is available to children, pregnant mothers and other adults to prevent and
treat dental diseases. 

Clients may avail of the service at  RHU l on Mondays-Wednesdays and at RHU ll every
Thursdays and Fridays.

HOW TO AVAIL OF THE SERVICE

Availing of anti-tuberculosis drugs                      

ABOUT THE SERVICE

The  RHU I and RHU II manage an anti-tuberculosis program through the DOTS.  The
purpose is to find cases and treat patients with tuberculosis (TB).  Sputum examination, drugs and medicine are provided free-of-charge.

WHO MAY avail of the service

Any person, 10 years old and above, who displays the following symptoms may have tuberculosis:

  • persistent coughing for 2 weeks or more non responsive to antibiotics alone.
  • fever
  • progressive weight loss
  • chest or back pains
  • hemoptysis or recurrent blood streak sputum
  • loss of appetite
  • tiredness/night sweating

Securing a health/medical certificate                   

ABOUT THE SERVICE

Health and Medical Certificates are issued by the RHU I, RHU II and RHU III for  all intents and purposes, e.g. school entrance, employment,  absent from work or school.

ABOUT THE SERVICE

THE RHU I, RHU II and RHU III provide drugs and medicines, free-of-charge for diagnosed cases only because definitive diagnosis is done at Tarlac Provincial hospital  where the Provincial Health Office is based.

Securing a Sanitary Permit and Health Card     

ABOUT THE SERVICE

THE RHU I, RHU II and RHU III issues Sanitary Permits and Health Cards after those businesses renewing or applying for business permits pass the requirements.

Health cards are being used to operators and employees after physical examinations and
laboratory work ups show normal findings

HOW TO AVAIL OF THE SERVICE

Availing of Maternity and Newborn Care at the Gerona Birthing Station (GBS)          

ABOUT THE SERVICE

The Gerona Birthing Station (GBS)
Is a 24/7 lying-in birthing homes where women on their second pregnancies and up give birth. It caters to uncomplicated, normal spontaneous deliveries (NSD) only. Complicated cases as well as those giving birth for the first time are referred to other hospitals.

REQUIREMENT
 
Pregnant women are advised to bring the things she and her newborn need for their 24-hour
stay at the GBS after delivery.

1. Maternal Care- medicines (analgesic and antibiotics, methergine tabs)
2. Newborn Care plus

      • Vitamin K injection
      • Terramycin Ophthalmic Drops

ABOUT THE SERVICE

The municipal nutrition action council
of Gerona is actively involved in the prevention of malnutrition and improvement of the nutritional status of  children and expectant mothers. Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) together with the Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO) are the primary movers of this
service.

Iodized salt is also distributed to the different barangays through the BNS to prevent
goiter and other iodine deficiency disorders.

Availing of Family Planning Services

ABOUT THE SERVICE

family planning (FP), a DOH program is the answer to population growth control. Married
Women of Reproductive Age (MWRAs), together with their husbands, are encouraged to avail
of this service. Different FP commodities are available at RHU l and RHU ll through the PopShop.

Attending pre-marriage counseling seminars

ABOUT THE SERVICE

The Population and Nutrition Office (PNO) spearhead the conduct of Pre-Marriage
Counseling
(PMC) Seminars to would-be couples.  A PMC Certificate is a prerequisite in securing a marriage license.

PMC Seminars are held every Wednesday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Facilitators from different agencies conduct seminars.   The PMC Certificate is awarded to participants
right after the activity.
