DOH CONFERS SANDUGO AWARD ON MAYOR GO

The Department of Health National Center for Health Facility Development conferred Mayor Dennis Norman Go the Sandugo Outstanding Local Government Executive Award in solemn rites held on July 29, 2009 at Diamond Hotel in Manila.

The Sandugo is an annual award given by the DOH to local executives who have shown support and commitment to the National Voluntary Blood Services Program (NVBSP).

Mayor Go was among other awardees that included Governor Victor Yap who had satisfied the criteria on personal involvement and commitment to NVBSP, provision of resources in the promotion of voluntary blood donation, high percentage of voluntary blood donation in one’s jurisdiction, and issuances of administrative orders/laws in support of the National Blood Services Act of 1994.

Known for his contribution to the local Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) in blood letting efforts and related activities, Mayor Go was bestowed the Sandugo award for his “outstanding support, commitment and active involvement in the promotion of voluntary blood donation towards the achievement of the vision of Republic Act 7719 otherwise known as the “National Blood Services Act of 1994.”

Just recently, the Tarlac Provincial Blood Council had also recognized Mayor Go’s support to the 100% blood requirement target for the province in a solemn ceremony held last July 24 at the provincial capitol.

TPBC Chair and Provincial Governor Victor Yap led the awarding of plaques of recognition.

National Sandugo awardees are nominated to the DOH by the local PNRC chapter.
